Five Arrested Following Weekend Stop in Armstrong

–A weekend traffic stop in Armstrong resulted in the arrest of five individuals on various drug and weapons charges.

According to the Emmet County Sheriff’s Office, Deputies observed a pickup truck pulling a trailer with no taillights on Iowa Highway 15 in downtown Armstrong around 9:30 PM Saturday (March 23rd). While conducting the stop, Deputies discovered the presence of narcotics as well as a pair of firearms.

As a result, Deputies arrested 24-year-old Michael Gutierrez, 27-year-old Luis Fernando Jimenez-Barajas, and 20-year-old Cristal Jimenez-Barajas, all from Storm Lake, as well as 22-year-old Alexandro Fariasdiego of San Jose, California, and 23-year-old Brandon Gutierrez from Modesto, California.

Charges include Possession of a Controlled Substance (Marijuana), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Possession of a Firearm by a Felon as well as being a Person Ineligible to Carry a Dangerous Weapon.

All five were booked into the Emmet County Jail to await an initial court appearance.
