–An Algona man is facing a felony charge after being taken into custody earlier this week.
According to the Kossuth County Sheriff’s Office, Deputies helped execute a search warrant at a residence on South Woodworth Street in Algona just before 2 PM Tuesday. Following the search, Deputies arrested 55-year-old Russell Robert Jordan of Algona on a charge of 1st Degree Theft, a Class C Felony.
Online court records show a criminal complaint was filed in Kossuth County District Court on Tuesday, stemming from an incident on December 28th of 2023. The complaint alleges Jordan wrote up a bill of sale while working for a Bancroft car dealership and took possession of a vehicle valued at over $10,000, without making any form of payment.
The complaint also alleges Jordan has taken the vehicle on trips out of state, had possession of the vehicle in his garage when the search warrant was executed, and had the vehicle registered in his name.
Jordan was booked into the Kossuth County Jail before posting a cash bond. He has entered a written plea of not guilty and is scheduled to have a preliminary hearing in Kossuth County District Court on June 26th.
