Two Killed in Truck/UTV Crash Near Humboldt

–Two Dakota City residents were killed Saturday evening when the UTV they were driving collided with a truck in rural Humboldt County.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, 43-year-old Theodore Prenger was southbound on Michigan Avenue in a 2021 Polaris UTV just after 5:15 PM Saturday. As Prenger approached intersection with County Road C26, about 5 miles north of Humboldt, he failed to stop at the intersection, and was hit by an eastbound Ford F250, driven by 63-year-old Terry Dean George of Hardy.

Prenger and a passenger in the UTV, identified as 56-year-old Teresa Ann Prenger, were both pronounced dead at the scene. Hardy was transported by private vehicle to Iowa Specialty Hospital in Clarion.

The accident remains under investigation.

The Iowa State Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Department, along with Humboldt Fire and EMS.
