–An Algona High School Senior is one of 12 Iowans who have been named as finalists in the National STEM Challenge. Emerson Waltz has been selected to advance to the next round of the competition, which involves creating and uploading project videos by December 1st for the next round of judging.
Iowa State University Extension announced this week that four of the finalists from Iowa are part of the 4H program.
The National Stem Challenge brings together youth nationwide, encouraging them to apply creativity, critical thinking, and scientific rigor to solve real world problems. Winners from each state will earn the title of National STEM Champions and receive the opportunity to showcase their research at the National STEM Festival in Washington D.C. in March of 2025.
Emerson is the daughter of Pete and Holly Waltz of Algona.
