–An Emmetsburg teen is facing multiple charges after a one vehicle accident seriously injured a passenger over the weekend west of Fenton.
According to the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office, Deputies responded to the report of a motor vehicle accident in the 5200 block of 300th Street, about 6 miles west of Fenton, just after 7 AM Sunday. After conducting an investigation into the accident, Deputies determined that 19-year-old Jordan Fury of Emmetsburg was traveling westbound along 300th Street in a 2003 Ford F150 truck.
The accident report states that Fury lost control of the truck and entered the north ditch, where it struck a field drive and went airborne before rolling and coming to rest in the ditch. Fury sustained minor injuries, however a passenger in the vehicle was partially ejected and had to be removed by mechanical means. The passenger was transported by air ambulance for treatment of serious injuries.
Fury was taken into custody on charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. The accident remains under investigation, and further charges are possible.
The Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Department was assisted at the scene by the Kossuth County Sheriff’s Department, the Fenton and Kossuth County Ambulance services, Palo Alto County Health System, Mercy Air Med, and fire departments from Emmetsburg and Cylinder.
