–Iowa Lakes Community College recently announced the establishment of a new endowment fund and scholarship that will help students cover the costs of a higher education.
A $100,000 gift from Jim and Bettje Willmore will be used to establish an endowment fund to support students in Nursing, Men’s Basketball, Instrumental Music and Athletic Training.
The Willmore’s have been long-time supporters of Iowa Lakes, as both earned degrees from the school and have stayed active in assisting students throughout their life.
Along with the new endowment, a scholarship fund has been established to assist non-traditional students at Iowa Lakes. The Anna Mae Kacmarynski Memorial Scholarship will award $1,000 annually to non-traditional students who are residents of Clay, Dickinson, Emmet, Palo Alto and Kossuth counties.
Kacmarynski was described as a life-long learner by her family, as she earned an Associate of Arts degree from Iowa Lakes at the age of 63 back in 1997.
