–An Algona man avoided injury when the truck he was driving left the road and rolled over the weekend near Emmetsburg.
According to the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office, Deputies responded to the report of a motor vehicle accident in the 3600 block of 480th Avenue, one mile northeast of Emmetsburg, just after 7 AM on Saturday. After conducting a brief investigation, Deputies determined that 51-year-old Mauricio Ochoa of Algona was traveling northbound on 480th Avenue in a 2001 Ford Ranger, when lost traction due to icy road conditions and slid into the east ditch.
After entering the ditch, the truck rolled and came to rest on the passenger side. Ochoa did not report any injuries at the scene, but he was cited for failure to provide proof of insurance.
Damage to Ochoa’s truck was estimated at $5,000.
