–Business leaders from around the area took part in a Community Forum Thursday morning, hosted by leaders of the Algona Area Economic Development Corporation. John Bilsten is the President of the AAEDC, and he tells KLGA News this is the second year they have hosted an open forum to discuss topics important to the area.
The event was held at the Tietz Entrepreneurial Center on the Algona Campus of Iowa Lakes Community College. Shelly Brown serves as the Coordinator for the Tietz Center, and she says bringing these leaders together can serve multiple purposes.
One of the major issues identified during last year’s forum was the need for affordable childcare for workers in the Algona area. Kossuth/Palo Alto County Economic Development Executive Director Tod Faris says they have been working with area providers to offer more daycare slots.
The forum also provided business leaders with updates on city building projects that will be taking place in the coming years.
