–An Algona man is facing multiple assault charges following an alleged incident early Sunday morning.
According to the Algona Police Department, Officers responded to a 911 call just after 2 AM Sunday. The criminal complaint filed in Kossuth County District Court states that officers could hear a man yelling and a woman crying over the phone and responded to an address on East South Street.
While trying to conduct interviews, the male subject attempted to run from officers and eventually grabbed one by the neck hard enough to leave red marks. Officers eventually were forced to tase the male subject so they could continue to investigate the incident.
The complaint goes on to say that the male subject had allegedly been arguing with the female victim on the way home when he allegedly grabbed her by the back of the head, pushing her into the windshield hard enough to make it crack. The altercation continued after they arrived home; at which time the 911 call was made.
After completing their interviews, officers arrested 43-year-old Matthew Allen Buscher on charges of Domestic Abuse Assault and Assault on Persons in Certain Occupations causing Bodily Injury, both Aggravated Misdemeanors, as well as Interference with Official Acts Causing Bodily Injury, a Serious Misdemeanor.
Buscher was booked into the Kossuth County Jail to await an initial court appearance. Court records show that he is scheduled to have a preliminary hearing in Kossuth County District Court on May 7th, and that a no contact order has been issued to prevent him from having any contact with the alleged victim in the case.
