Curb Painting Scam Targeting Area Residents

–Algona city officials are alerting area residents to a scam notice that has been circulating about painting house numbers on the curb for a fee.

The city used multiple social media posts this week to highlight the pink note that had been left at area residences by the Nationwide Curb Numbering Service (NCNS). The note is seeking a gratuity to assist with the costs of painting house numbers on the curb.

City officials want the public to know that these notices are not authorized or initiated by the city of Algona, the Algona Police Department or Algona Fire Department and the painting of address numbers on the curb is not required by city code.
