Multiple Juveniles Cited Following Weekend Crash Near West Bend

–Four different juveniles were cited following a one vehicle accident in the rural West Bend area early Saturday morning.

According to the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office, Deputies received a report from the Kossuth County Sheriff’s Office of a one vehicle crash just west of Iowa Highway 15, four miles north of West Bend around 2 AM Saturday.

After investigating the incident, Palo Alto County authorities determined a 2015 Hyundai Santa Fe, owned by Lindsay Biddle of Fort Dodge, was being operated by a female juvenile. While traveling south on Highway 15, the Biddle vehicle failed to negotiate a turn onto 430th Street and entered the south ditch, where it struck a utility pole owned by West Bend Municipal Utility.

The vehicle was considered a total loss, and the juvenile driver was cited for failure to maintain control, minor in possession of alcohol under the legal age and possession of marijuana. Along with the driver, three juvenile passengers were all cited for minor in possession of alcohol under the legal age.

Each of the juveniles received medical treatment at the scene prior to being released to their parents.
