–Former Governor Terry Branstad will be in Algona Saturday to speak at a fundraising event for the Dolores Mertz Scholarship fund. The longest tenured Governor in Iowa’s history and former US Ambassador to China described Mertz as one of his favorite Democrats to work with during her time in the legislature.
Branstad will be the featured guest at the event Saturday, beginning at 2 PM inside the Wilcox Performing Arts Center. There is no cost to attend, but a free will donation will be accepted with proceeds going to the Dolores Mertz Scholarship fund. The event is being organized by the Kossuth County Democrats, who have another talk scheduled for September 20th that will feature former Iowa Senator Tom Harkin.
