–Algona’s 26th annual Founder’s Day celebration officially kicks off Thursday evening with the “Voices from the Past” performance at the Riverview Cemetery. Jane Nettleton helps organize the event, and she says this year a few of the performers helped to research their subjects and write their own scripts.
Another organizer will step out in front of the audience this year to highlight a member of her own family.
The final story tellers will highlight a family that has deep roots in the community.
Nettleton says those in attendance will be led through the cemetery by guides who will also provide further information.
“Voices from the Past” will begin promptly at 6 PM Thursday at the Riverview Cemetery. In case of rain, the event will be moved indoors to the Tietz Entrepreneurial Center on the Algona campus of Iowa Lakes Community College. If you can’t make it to Thursday’s rendition, there will be a repeat performance at the Algona Public Library Sunday beginning at 2 PM.
