–Officials across Kossuth County want area residents to prepare now for the increased traffic that will come with RAGBRAI next Tuesday (July 22nd). Sheriff Roger Fisher says anyone with travel plans through northern or central Kossuth County that day will need to be prepared for delays or find a different route.
Riders will be traveling from Estherville to Forest City that day, and Fisher says they expect many will be up and on the road as soon as the sun rises.
Along with the 15,000-20,000 bicyclists, Fisher says all the support vehicles will be moving through Kossuth County that day as well.
Fisher says they hope drivers will be patient as they try to go about their normal daily routine while the county is cut in half by cyclists from across the country.
On the 22nd, vendors will be shut down in Swea City beginning at 1PM, Bancroft at 2PM and Titonka at 3:30 PM in an attempt to get the riders to move on to the next stop. Officials say to expect traffic delays into the early afternoon before the riders have moved out of the county and on to Forest City.
