–Schools across the country are in a wait-and-see mode after the federal government recently announced they are withholding previously approved grant funding. Superintendent Joe Carter discussed the current situation with the Algona School Board during their meeting on Monday night.
Carter says the last payment to the Algona School District was to be around $60,000.
The funds have traditionally been disbursed on July 1st. On June 30th, the federal government announced they would be withholding over $6 Billion in previously approved grants to schools across the nation.
Carter says they will keep a close eye on the situation over the next few months and encouraged board members to contact their federal representatives to voice their concerns.
