–A dog complaint Sunday evening in Lu Verne ended with 2 people facing multiple felony level drug charges.
According to the Kossuth County Sheriff’s Office, Deputies responded to a dog complaint at 307 Prospect Street in Lu Verne just after 5:30 PM Sunday. Upon arrival, Deputies learned a vehicle in the driveway belonged to a person with multiple outstanding arrest warrants, prompting a search of the residence.
The criminal complaint filed in Kossuth County District Court alleges Deputies could smell Marijuana in use when they knocked on the door, and an occupant of the residence, identified as 65-year-old Anita Jane Matheny, answered the door and consented to a search.
During the search, Deputies found 62-year-old Henry Andrew Shelton of Humboldt in a bedroom, allegedly using marijuana. After conducting a further search of the bedroom, Deputies found marijuana, methamphetamines, prescription medication and drug paraphernalia.
Following the search, Deputies arrested both Matheny and Shelton.
Matheny is being charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance 1st Offense (Marijuana and Methamphetamine), Possession of Cannabidiol, Unlawful Possession of Prescription Drugs, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Gathering where Controlled Substances are Used.
Shelton has been charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance-3rd Offense (Methamphetamine and Marijuana), Gathering where Controlled Substances are Used, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
Both were booked into the Kossuth County Jail to await an initial court appearance.
