–With all the rain we’ve had over the last month, lawns around the area have needed mowing on a more frequent basis this summer. With that in mind, the City of Algona wants to remind residents that grass clippings should not be blown out into the street. Deputy City Administrator Barb Smith tells KLGA News those grass clippings can be problematic to the city’s infrastructure.
While it seems like a minor infraction, Smith says they will involve city staff and law enforcement if necessary.
Smith says grass clippings can clog up a storm sewer in a short amount of time, especially when the frequency of heavy rain events has increased over the last few years.
