–Preliminary enrollment figures for the Algona Community School District show a smaller than predicted drop in students for the 2025-2026 school year. Superintendent Joe Carter went through some of the early numbers with the Algona School Board during their meeting Monday night.
Carter says they knew the district was in for an enrollment decline this year, and they budgeted accordingly.
The early numbers show a slight increase in the number of students at Algona High School.
The district will officially certify their enrollment figures next month. That certified enrollment number is used to determine the amount of state funding the district will receive for the next year.
