–Longtime area businessman and philanthropist Donald R. Tietz will serve as the Grand Marshal for the 77th annual Algona Band Day Parade next month.
Officials with the Algona Area Chamber of Commerce made the announcement this week that Tietz will lead the parade on Saturday, October 4th.
After taking pilot training and serving in law enforcement, Tietz began his work in real estate in 1962, eventually founding the Tietz Construction Company. His dealings would help shape countless commercial, industrial, and residential projects across Iowa and Minnesota, fueling growth in the region.
The Donald R. Tietz Charitable Foundation was established in 2014. The foundation has provided grants and funding to projects that help area youth, schools, businesses, public safety, veterans, arts, and community spaces.
The 77th annual Algona Band Day Festival kicks off with the parade at 1 PM, followed by the field show that evening inside Bulldog Stadium.
