–An official ribbon-cutting ceremony was held Thursday morning for the new Kossuth County Veteran’s Center in Algona. The facility at the corner of State and Lantry Streets in is the new home of the North Central Iowa Chapter of Moving Veteran’s Forward. John Emwsiler leads the local MVF chapter, and he tells KLGA News the new facility will make it easier to assist veterans across Kossuth County.
MVF assists Veterans as they transition into civilian life, some who have nothing but a couple of bags for clothes to call their own. Emswiler says they can provide furniture and other household items that these veterans need, and the new facility allows him to store the items in a clean and safe environment.
Emswiler was in the process of raising funds for a new facility near the Kossuth County Fairgrounds when the Donald R. Tietz Foundation reached out.
The new facility is located at 109 South Lantry Street in Algona. The center does not have official business hours yet, but area veterans that needs to use it can call him at 712-269-9700 any time night or day. For more information about the facility you can go online to www.mvfnci.org.
