–A Hancock County woman was taken into custody Monday evening on drug related charges after her vehicle ended up in the water near the Plum Creek dam.
According to the Kossuth County Sheriff’s Office, Deputies arrested 48-year-old Amy Jo Ulven of Crystal Lake on charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance (Marijuana)—1st offense and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
A criminal complaint filed in Kossuth County District Court states that Deputies responded to a call reporting a vehicle had gone into the waterway at the Plum Creek dam along 240th Street, 2 miles northeast of Algona just after 5 PM. Upon arrival, Deputies found Ulven, who said she had stopped by the dam to eat. When her truck was removed from the water, a THC vape pen was found on the front seat. Deputies also allege that they witnessed Ulven drop a glass pipe, one used for smoking methamphetamine.
Along with the drug charges, Ulven was cited for Driving with a Suspended or Canceled License. She was booked into the Kossuth County Jail to await an initial court appearance.
Court records show that Ulven is scheduled to have a preliminary hearing in Kossuth County District Court on November 3rd.
