–The Lakota based Hunting with Heroes organization is gearing up for their annual pheasant hunt, which gets underway next week. Organizer and spokesperson Bernie Becker tells KLGA News they will bring 10 combat wounded veterans to Kossuth County this year.

Becker says they try to make sure the wounded vets are comfortable with the weapons and the hunt itself.

Despite their military training, Becker says many of the veterans aren’t too familiar with the guns they’ll be using on the hunt.

Becker says the wounded veterans will be arriving next week for multiple days of hunting.

Following the hunts, the wounded vets will also be on hand for the drive through event in Lakota on Veterans Day, where they will help hand out complete Thanksgiving meals to area veterans and widows of veterans. Becker says last year they handed out over 500 meals, and this year they plan on handing out over 600.
