–No injuries were reported following a pair of accidents that occurred just a few minutes apart during Saturday’s snowstorm near Whittemore.

According to the Kossuth County Sheriff’s Office, Deputies received the first report just before 1:40 PM Saturday. The accident report states that  a 2006 Dodge Truck, driven by 16-year-old Braxton Bierle of Algona, collided with the back end of a Iowa DOT Snowplow, driven by 45-year-old Travis Elbert of Burt, on Iowa Highway 15 north of Whittemore.

Bierle told Deputies he lost sight of the plow because of blowing snow in the area. Damage to his truck was estimated at $20,000, as the vehicle was considered a total loss. Damage to the plow was estimated at $8,000.

Just 3 minutes later, Deputies received a report of a 2-vehicle collision along County Road B20 north of Whittemore. In this incident, 18-year-old Cody Doege of Buffalo Center was west bound on B20 in a 2000 Chevrolet truck. As Doege crested a hill in the road, he encountered a slower moving westbound vehicle, driven by 25-year-old James Olson of Algona.

Doege attempted to brake, but he lost traction and slid into the rear of Olson’s vehicle. Damage to Olson’s truck was estimated at $3,500, while damage to Doege’s 2000 vehicle was estimated at $3,000.
