–The Kossuth County Board of Supervisors is looking to extend the county’s moratorium on large scale solar projects, which is set to expire December 31st. During their meeting Tuesday, Board Chairman Carter Nath laid out why they could not act on an agenda item to set a public hearing date for a solar ordinance.
Nath says going through the proper procedures will take more than a few weeks.
Supervisor Howard Haas expressed his desire to finalize the solar ordinance as soon as possible.
The board will vote to extend the solar moratorium through the end of March at their meeting next week. The Supervisors initially enacted a 9-month moratorium on large-scale solar projects in October of 2024 and then extended it this summer to run through the end of 2025.
