–The Algona Community School District is seeing a drop in expenses as well as a slight increase in revenues so far this fiscal year. Superintendent Joe Carter provided the Algona School Board with a financial update during their meeting on Monday evening.
Carter says they have implemented a few changes district-wide that have helped bring some costs down.
The district’s certified enrollment dropped by nearly 30 this fall, so administrators are expecting that they will eventually see a deficit before the fiscal year is over.
The drop in certified enrollment means the district will receive less funding from the state for the next fiscal year.
