–The Algona Municipal Utilities Board of Trustees approved the utility provider’s budget for the coming year during their most recent meeting. AMU General Manager John Bilsten tells KLGA News their forecast calls for revenues of around $33 Million, and expenses close to $32.5 Million.

Bilsten says several infrastructure projects will take place in the coming year, including more work on the Fiber to the Home (FTTH) project.

That project will help AMU complete their goal of removing all overhead utilities along the Phillips Street Corridor. Bilsten says they always weigh the costs of these projects up against the benefits for their residential and business customers.

AMU was recognized back in April by the American Public Power Association for providing reliable electric service to customers, with many of the recent infrastructure projects helping to limit power outages.
