–The Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union released assignments Tuesday for the State Qualifying Wrestling meets that will be held on Friday, January 30th.
The Algona Girls Wrestling team will travel to Nevada for a 2A State Qualifier that includes Benton Community, Boone, Cedar Rapids Kennedy, Denison-Schleswig, Harlan, Cedar Rapids Prairie, West Des Moines Valley, and Webster City.
In Class 1A, West Bend-Mallard will be part of the State Qualifying meet hosted by Western Christian in Hull. Also competing amongst the 18 teams in Hull will be GT/RA, Emmetsburg, and Pocahontas Area.
Also in Class 1A, Clear Lake, GHV and Lake Mills will compete at a meet hosted by Crestwood in Cresco, while Humboldt, Hampton-Dumont/CAL, and Eagle Grove will travel to Denver.
The top 2 wrestlers at each weigh class will qualify for the Girls State Wrestling tournament, which will be held February 5th and 6th at the Xtream Arena in Coralville.
