–Officials with Algona Municipal Utilities are warning area residents to be aware of some scam emails that have been circulating in recent weeks, threatening the recipient with an interruption of service. AMU Marketing Director Bob Jennings tells KLGA News these emails are phishing for personal information and should be deleted immediately.
The latest email was reportedly sent out overnight and tries to imply a sense of urgency.
Jennings says these scammers work hard to make the messages look like they are official and come from AMU.
If you receive a suspicious email, you can contact AMU by calling 515-295-3584.
