–A pair of Southern Minnesota men were taken into custody on drug charges early Tuesday morning following a traffic stop in northern Kossuth County.

According to the Kossuth County Sheriff’s Office, Deputies arrested 45-year-old Dustin Jeffrey Wickert of Granada, Minnesota and 52-year-old Perry Ray Egdorf of Alpha, Minnesota following the stop along Iowa Highway 9 west of Buffalo Center just after 2:30 AM Tuesday.

A criminal complaint filed in Kossuth County District Court states that Wickert was driving a red Volkswagen Jetta, while Egdorf was a passenger in the vehicle. A traffic stop was initiated due to an obstructed view of the license plate, when Deputies detected the smell of marijuana.

Wickert admitted that there was marijuana in the car, with multiple items of drug paraphernalia in reach of both individuals. A search of Wickert turned up a tobacco container with a white crystalline substance, believed to be methamphetamine.

Wickert was arrested on charges of Possession of Methamphetamine (1st offense), Possession of Marijuana (1st offense), Failure to Affix a Drug Tax Stamp (Class D Felony), and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Egdorf was charged with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Both Wickert and Egdorf were booked into the Kossuth County Jail to await an initial court appearance.
