–As budget work for the coming year continues, leaders in the Algona Community School District are trying to cover the proposed increases to their insurance costs. Superintendent Joe Carter outlined the situation to the school board this week after recently meeting with the district’s insurance broker.

Carter says the district has not increased employee insurance contributions during his time with the district.

The district’s insurance broker has prepared a list of things the district can do to try and reduce this deficit.

The district’s insurance committee, which consists of representatives from each building and staff level, will meet this week to look at some of these possible changes.
