–The Iowa Department of Natural Resources will host an informational meeting for area hunters in early March. Lucas Straw is a Wildlife Biologist with the DNR’s Prairie Lakes Wildlife Unit, and he tells KLGA News they are hoping for a good turnout on Thursday, March 5th inside the Tietz Entrepreneurial Center on the Algona Campus of Iowa Lakes Community College.
Straw says hunting numbers across the Kossuth County area have been steady in recent years.
The state’s Natural Resources Commission approved slight increases for hunting and fishing licenses last week, with a public hearing on the proposed fees last week. Straw says they will hopefully get feedback on this and a number of other issues during the meeting
The meeting will begin at 7 PM on Thursday, March 5th at the Tietz Entrepreneurial Center on the Algona Campus of Iowa Lakes Community College. There will be presentations followed by time for questions and answers from those in attendance. Anyone needing more information about the meeting can contact Straw by calling 712-362-1651.
