–An Ottosen man was taken into custody after leading law enforcement agencies on a pursuit through four counties last week.
According to the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office, Deputies received a report from Emmet County of a reckless driver along Iowa Highway 4 headed towards the Graettinger area just before 8:30 PM on Wednesday, March 11th. While responding, Deputies observed the vehicle in question speeding at nearly 85 MPH in a 55 MPH zone. A traffic stop was attempted, at which time the suspect fled, leading authorities on a chase that went through Palo Alto and Pocahontas County, before ending in Humboldt County.
Following the pursuit, law enforcement officials arrested the driver, identified as 52-year-old Paul Himes of Ottosen. Himes is facing charges of Eluding 25 MPH Over the Speed Limit (2nd or subsequent offense), a Class C Felony, 3rd Degree Criminal Mischief, an Aggravated Misdemeanor, Interference with Official Acts Causing Bodily Injury, a Serious Misdemeanor, along with almost a dozen separate moving violations.
Himes was booked into the Palo Alto County Jail to await an initial court appearance.
The Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Sheriff’s Deputies in Pocahontas, Humboldt, and Kossuth counties, along with police officers from Emmetsburg and Pocahontas.
