–Law Enforcement officials believe a Lakota man died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound Tuesday after he was found unresponsive at a rural residence near Ledyard.
According to the Kossuth County Sheriff’s Office, a 911 call was made around 11:13AM Tuesday from 1707 460th Street, about 2.5 miles east of Ledyard, reporting there was a person down with an unknown medical emergency. Upon arrival, both First Responders and EMS personnel determined the individual was deceased from a gunshot wound.
Sheriff’s Deputies began an investigation into the incident once they arrived at the scene, and with help from the Medical Examiner’s office, collected information and evidence to indicate the gunshot had been self-inflicted.
Deputies were able to identify the individual as 46-year-old Wade Willis Mueller of rural Lakota. An official autopsy will be conducted by the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Ankeny.
Law Enforcement was assisted at the scene by the Ledyard First Responders, Kossuth County EMS and the Kossuth County Medical Examiner’s Office.
