Lakota Man Injured in Late June Motorcycle Crash

–A Lakota man suffered serious injuries following a motorcycle accident in northern Kossuth County late last month.

According to an accident report released this week by the Kossuth County Sheriff’s Office, 59-year-old Joseph James Schutter was traveling northbound along 183rd Avenue, north of Lakota, on a 2010 Harley Davidson motorcycle around 3:30 PM on Wednesday, June 24th. The report states that Schutter left the roadway to the left while negotiating a curve and entered the west ditch, where he was ejected off of the motorcycle.

Schutter was found by his wife nearly an hour later and eventually transported by Kossuth EMS to the Titonka area, where a landing zone was secured for Mercy Air Med to transfer him to MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center in Mason City.

Deputies were assisted at the scene by Kossuth County and Titonka EMS. Damage to the motorcycle was estimated at $10,000.
