–The state of Iowa will receive over $71 Million in federal funding to replace multiple bridges across 9 counties through the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act that was passed in 2021. Senator Chuck Grassley’s office announced the funding this week that the Iowa Department of Transportation will use on three distinct building projects. During an interview with KLGA News this week, Grassley says he took some heat for supporting this funding measure under then President Joe Biden.
Grassley says he voted the bill because he thought the infrastructure improvements would support Iowa’s economy.
Each separate project will receive around $24 Million in federal money, one of which includes the replacement of seven bridges across Boone, Butler, Calhoun, Humboldt, Jackson, Lucas, and Sioux Counties, while projects in Black Hawk and Johnson counties will receive the rest.
