–The annual Salute to Veteran’s events will be held this week at three different racetracks across the state, including the Kossuth County Speedway in Algona. Bernie Becker with the Lakota based Hunting with Heroes Organization tells KLGA News that they will be wrapping cars in the Hobby Stock, Stock Car, A Mod, and B Mod divisions.
Each track will host special events prior to the races that evening.
Becker says the competition is pretty fierce amongst the drivers as to who gets to have their cars wrapped with a patriotic display.
The Salute to Veteran’s races kick off Wednesday at the Clay County Fair Speedway in Spencer, then continue Thursday night at the Kossuth County Speedway, before concluding on Saturday at the Boone Speedway. Funds raised during the events will help Hunting with Heroes bring wounded veterans to North Iowa this fall for their hunting expedition, along with the Veteran’s Day drive through that provides Thanksgiving meals to veterans or widows of veterans completely free of charge.
