–Work is scheduled to begin this week on a pair of railroad crossings in Algona that will prompt road closures for a few weeks. Matt Cole is a Project Engineer with Bolton & Menk, and he addressed the Algona City Council during their most recent meeting to give them an update on the timeline.
The city will oversee the grading, tiling, culverts, and other preparation work on these projects.
The railroad crossings on North Roan and North Park Drive/Hall Street are scheduled to reopen the week of August 17th. The cost to replace these crossings is being split between the railroad, the city, and the Iowa Department of Transportation, which is funding 60% through their Highway-Railroad Grade Crossings Surface repair program.
