–The leader of an area non-profit organization will be recognized at this year’s Iowa State Fair for his efforts to assist veterans in need. John Emswiler is one of ten people selected statewide that will be recognized as “Iowan of the Day” during this year’s fair.

The Iowa State Fair Blue-Ribbon Foundation made an announcement this week that Emswiler will be honored for his work with Moving Veteran’s Forward. Through his leadership, the organization helps veterans transition to stable housing by coordinating furniture donations, organizing fundraisers, and building partnerships in the local community.

Emswiler will be recognized as Iowan of the Day on August 13th, with a ceremony beginning at 12 PM that day on the Anne and Bill Riley Stage.

The Iowan of the Day program is presented by the Blue-Ribbon Foundation and recognizes outstanding Iowans who have made a positive difference in their communities through service, leadership, and dedication to others.
