One person was killed and five others injured following a collision between two boats on West Lake Okoboji Sunday afternoon.
According to the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, the collision occurred just before 1 PM Sunday near Pillsbury Point, on the lake’s southeast side. Officials say the person killed and the five who were injured all came from the same boat, and that three sustained serioius injuries.
All of the injured were taken to hospitals in Spencer and Spirit Lake. While no names have been released, officials say that alcohol was not a factor in the crash and all of the injured were wearing life jackets.
The accident remains under investigation.
