–The Algona School Board received a presentation on next year’s budget during their meeting this week. Superintendent Joe Carter went through the numbers for the board, and explained how the district’s enrollment numbers will change as the merger with the Lu Verne District takes effect.

Carter says district residents will pay a little bit less in property taxes to support the school next year. Each district in the state has a Uniform Levy rate of $5.40/$1000 a property valuation, but Carter says Algona’s rate will drop.

The District’s additional levy will also see a rate decrease due to the reorganization.

The board certify the District’s Budget for the upcoming school year at their meeting in April.
