Corwith Man Pleads Not Guilty in 2021 Burglary Case

–A Corwith man who was recently charged in a theft and burglary case from 2021 has entered a plea of not guilty.

43-year-old Tommy Gretillat is facing 3 felony counts following an investigation into a burglary at a rural Forest City residence back on January 2nd, 2021. He was charged with 1st Degree Theft, a Class C Felony, 3rd Degree Burglary, and 2nd Degree Criminal Mischief, both Class D Felonies back in April following a 2-year investigation by law enforcement in Hancock County.

Court documents allege more than $10,000 worth of clothing, electronics, and jewelry was taken from the residence near Forest City, some of which was recovered by law enforcement officers when they served a search warrant in the rural Corwith area on February 22nd, 2021.

The criminal complaint also states a cigarette butt containing Grettilat’s DNA was found outside the victim’s residence.

Grettilat entered the plea of not guilty earlier this week, he is scheduled to stand trial on July 12th.
