–An Algona man was able to avoid injury after his car struck a cow that had wandered onto Highway 169 Saturday evening.
According to the Kossuth County Sheriff’s Office, 67-year-old Rodolfo Galvez Cantillo was traveling northbound in the 1400 block of Highway 169 in a 2021 Toyota SUV, around 7:15 PM Saturday. As Cantillo was driving, he was able to notice a cow had wandered onto the roadway.
He attempted to avoid a collision with the animal by applying the brakes, but his vehicle struck the animal at a lower speed. The accident report states that Cantillo was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, and he did not report any injuries.
Damage to his vehicle was estimated at $3,000.
