–Candidates who will be on the ballot for June’s primary election in Kossuth County will be taking part in a live forum tonight sponsored by the Algona Chapter of the American Association of University Women.
There are 2 seats that will be up for election this fall on the County Board of Supervisors, and there are contested primaries in each.
In Supervisor District #2, which encompasses the western half of Algona, Howard Haas and Will Struecker are each vying for the Republican nomination.
In Supervisor District #5, which encompasses much of central and eastern Kossuth County, Christian Schlaefer, Dennis Higgins and Amber Garman are each seeking the Republican nomination for that seat. Bruce Meinders is the only name on the primary ballot for the Democratic party nomination for the 5th district.
There is also a contested primary for County Sheriff, with both Roger Fisher and Brian Runneberg seeking the Republican nomination.
