–Fenton’s annual Sweet Corn Days celebration will be a bit bigger this year, as the community is also celebrating its Quasquicentennial, having been founded in 1899. Dan Ulfers is a member of the Fenton Community Club and has helped organize this year’s festivities.
The Community Club has been meeting on a regular basis for the past year to finalize this year’s schedule, which kicks off Friday morning with a tractor ride. Ulfers says they will have musical entertainment Friday night to get everyone ready for a busy Saturday, that will feature a parade beginning at 10:30 AM.
Following the parade will be various kids’ activities and a Kickball tournament beginning at 1 PM. A time capsule that was buried during Fenton’s Centennial celebration in 1999 will be unearthed and put on display at 3 PM, and the night will wrap up with the Brad Morgan Band performing from 8-11 PM. Festivities will wrap up Sunday with a community church service and a Sweet Corn meal in the park, with activities to follow.
