–Emergency Management officials in Kossuth County have enacted an open burning ban due to the persistent warm and dry conditions across the area.
Kossuth County Emergency Management Coordinator Charissa Mueller issued a news release late Thursday stating the ban will be in place until conditions improve. In the release, Mueller states that “we feel it’s best to mitigate the risk for our residents, responders and equipment at this time.”
Kossuth County is now one of 61 across the state that have enacted a burn ban, with the vast majority of the state north of Interstate 80 under a burn ban at this time.
