–Certified enrollment figures show a surprising increase in the number of students attending school in Algona this year. Superintendent Joe Carter presented the numbers to the school board during their meeting Monday night, as the enrollment was certified in mid-October.
Carter says they have no way of knowing how many new students will move into the district when they set their budget forecasting models.
He went on to say the student population hasn’t been this high for the district this century.
The influx of new students will mean new money for the district in the coming year, but Carter says they will still budget conservatively in case the projected drop in students for next year does come true.
