–A Swea City man avoided injury when the car he was driving left the roadway and rolled into the ditch last week near the Iowa/Minnesota border.

According to the Kossuth County Sheriff’s Office, 41-year-old Byron Palma was northbound on County Road P30 in a 1997 Toyota Four Runner just after 7:20 AM on Wednesday, December 4th. The accident report states that Palma hit a patch of ice on the roadway and lost control, and eventually entered the east ditch near the intersection with 480 Street.

Upon entering the ditch, Palma’s vehicle rolled and came to rest near the field south of the intersection. The report says that Palma was wearing a seatbelt at the time and did not suffer any injuries.
