–The Algona School Board set the dates for their upcoming public budget hearings during Monday’s meeting. Superintendent Joe Carter discussed how things will go over the next few weeks as they publicize the budget for the 2026-2027 school year.
Carter says they will discuss a number of topics during those budget hearings to make sure all the information is presented to the public.
While the state legislature continues to try and reform the state’s property tax system, Carter says the budget they have proposed works hard to minimize any increases from the school.
The Algona district saw a drop of nearly 30 students when their enrollment was certified in October, which means per pupil funding received by the district will also be down.
