–The Kossuth County Board of Supervisors held a public hearing on the proposed property tax levy for the upcoming fiscal year during a special meeting Tuesday afternoon. Chairman Carter Nath went through some comparisons between the levy rates in the current fiscal year and the proposed rates for the upcoming budgeting year.

Nath also compared rates for commercial properties with assessed values between $300,000-$330,000.

Only one member of the public spoke during the hearing, and Nath read from a letter that was submitted from a property owner in Seneca township.

The board cited increased salaries for county workers and higher insurance costs for the proposed tax increases.
