–The Kossuth Childcare Coalition is accepting grant applications through the end of the month in an effort to sustain and expand daycare access for area families. The coalition was formed some 12 months ago and began raising funds to assist daycare provider’s last fall. Tod Faris serves as the Executive Director of the Kossuth/Palo Alto Economic Development and is part of the childcare group, and he says they have raised over $100,000 thus far, which prompted their decision to open up the application process.
Faris says they want to make sure they reach any daycare provider that is assisting children in Kossuth County.
Daycare providers can use these grants for wage enhancement programs, quality improvements or facility upgrades. The deadline to apply is 4 PM on April 30th, and Faris says they should have the money handed out before the end of May.
Licensed childcare centers, registered home daycare providers and new daycare centers that will open by the end of 2026 are eligible to apply. Daycares must be located within Kossuth County or serve Kossuth County families. Applications and more information can be found online at www.discoveralgona.com.
